Of The Fountain

I’m loving these luggage tags by Of The Fountain. How awesome is the map coordinates tag? Maybe the coordinates tell where you met your love, where you were born, or where you finished your first marathon. These sure do make me want to travel…

Folklands

4 Aug

I’m in love with tribal, Aztec, southwestern imagery and designs, so when I saw Ellie’s post about Folklands, I was in love. These designs, by Sydney based artist John-Michael Papagianopoulos, can be seen on paper, clothing, buildings, skateboards, and more. I think it is fantastic when an artist has a signature style that can be translated across medium and material. These designs would make great tattoos…

HGD in the news!

4 Aug

Just two nights ago we sent a newsletter about our upcoming move to a new location to focus on our design services versus retail, and the next morning we received several calls from various blogs, newspapers, and magazines all wanting to get the story! And this morning, just one day later, there’s an article in The Herald-Sun about our newly launched website featuring our new online design service, hgY, which caters to the do-it-yourselfer! Check out the article in The Herald-Sun here, and check out our new website, hgHOMEdurham.com! Thanks for all the support! We’re excited about where we’re going!

TONIGHT – Project Runway!

2 Aug

No doubt, many of you have already seen the premier of Project Runway’s Season 9 that aired last week. How was it?! I am SO excited to finally watch it tonight with my girlfriends!  Champagne, friends, and high-fashion. I CAN’T WAIT!

I love these headpieces. They’re so whimsical. Would you wear one?

her petticoat…

1 Aug

A friend of mine, Jillian – who’s now also my housemate! Wahoo! – started a blog recently: her petticoat…six inches deep in mud. She has some fantastic weekly features like “Doublemint Dinners” where Jillian and her sister pick a food, both find it locally, and each make a meal with that ingredient and “Friday Faces” where she showcases a  portrait artist every Friday. She started a new feature called “times with tink” where, you guessed it, she writes about our adventures as friends and housemates. Check out her blog!

hgY online design is HERE!

21 Jul

It’s no secret that we’re all keen on reducing costs and increasing value these days.  In design and decorating, this can mean combining DIY projects with expert design tips found online and in magazines. But don’t you really just want someone to give you a plan that’s made for your space that you can then make a reality? I mean, you’ve already tried to recreate page 24 in your bedroom and discovered no matter how exact you mimicked the look, your room just didn’t turn out like the one in Elle Decor. What’s needed is a professional who is personally involved but one step removed (therefore a lot less expensive!) to help you avoid the inevitably misfires made while going it alone…

Heather Garrett Design brings you hgY: a DIY approach to professional design – a fully online design service that provides a customized plan for your room, that you can implement all on your own, at a fraction of the traditional cost for a designer’s help.

Here’s how it works: You Gather specifics about your preferences, lifestyle, budget, and space, and then upload the information and images online.  We Deliver an hgY Presentation…check out the sample Presentation Book below…containing all the tools you’ll need to implement the new look on your own.  And, after a little bit of elbow grease on your part…Ta-Da!…a fabulous new space that’s better than page 24, because it’s YOU and it’s YOURS!
