What are your plans this weekend? It’s Jillian’s birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!), so we’re getting gussied up and going to Nana’s for appetizers and drinks…then meeting the boys for more drinks at Geer Street Garden. Whatever you end up doing, HAVE FUN!

Any travel plans for the weekend? I’m heading to Knoxville with a short stop in Asheville with a few friends. I love weekend trips. They’re short, sweet, and inexpensive, especially if you stay with friends or family. The drive is often one of my favorite parts of a weekend trip. Unlike a flight, you get to see changing scenery all the way to your destination and back. It’s about the journey too ya know – not just the destination! Windows down, music blasting, arms waving, and we’re on our waaayyy!

I went to Asheville last weekend to visit some friends from college. The 80-acre farm we stayed on is absolutely amazing. Old, original structures have been repurposed into a main home, sleeping cabins, and an outdoor kitchen. Once the home of Freckles the cow, one barn is now a painting studio! The property lays right in the hollow between two ridges with a spring-fed creek running through its center. Complete with a garden, outdoor movie screen, fire pit, screened-in porch, and more, this little sliver of heaven is just what I needed to remind myself of the amazing beauty that surrounds me, the amazing friends that stick around, and the amazing life I am blessed to live.
